Before you consider purchasing a soundproofing product from http://www.soundproofcow.com (American Micro Industries), I would ask that you first read my personal experience with this company, their product, and their 'customer support'
On September 12, 2012 I considered purchasing, in expectation of my first child (born a few weeks later) soundproofing for my exterior condo door. Before purchase I spoke to an employee of American Micro Inc, Kellen Beaver, and asked for an item which would not affect the door itself and I also expressed my concern for the peel-and-stick backing by explicitly asking: "The door cover comes with an industrial grade peel and stick PSA backing. On average, how long will this adhesive last? ". Mr. Beaver recommended that I purchase the Quiet Barrier HD Soundproofing Composite and stated that "As far as the life of the adhesive, we've had the product for 15 yrs and the adhesive has not deteriorated or become a concern." Based upon Mr. Beaver's assurances I purchased the soundproofing- Order Number 3875. Two days after installing the soundproof panel the soundproofing had fallen to the floor when the adhesive failed. We cannot use an industrial adhesive on the door (because, as we told Mr. Beaver, condominium regulations prevent us from tampering with the door itself) and everything else we tried failed to support the weight of the panel. I requested a refund on the product and our emails were completely ignored by both Mr. Beaver and another employee James Baddorf.
American Micro is the parent company of soundproofcow.com. It's a company that makes between 5-10 million dollars a year. If you can believe it this company even states that it offers a 'Guarantee' (http://www.soundproofcow.com/Guarantee.html). From personal experience I can tell you that this 'Guarantee' means absolutely nothing!
My family trusted this company with hundreds of dollars. With my wife on maternity leave and a new baby in the house, this was money we could not afford to just throw away- and yet that's exactly what happened when we bought material from soundproofcow.com. Do not make the same mistake we did!
FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE I HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE BUT TO RECOMMEND THAT NO ONE PURCHASE SOUND-PROOFING MATERIAL FROM THIS COMPANY. WHEN SOMETHING GOES WRONG WITH YOUR SOUND-PROOFING YOU MAY FIND, AS WE DID, THAT YOUR REFUND, AS WELL AS THIS COMPANY'S CUSTOMER SUPPORT, IS NON-EXISTENT!
